Marine Navigation Instructor     (Min VICT, Cert Holder)

We are seeking an Instructor in Nautical Studies to join the Marine Technical Services Division, in Marine Department of KARMA Charitable Trust.
A number of functions are performed by MTSD including a unique and specialized in-house engineering and navigation training to develop and certify the department’s seagoing personnel to safely operate and maintain vessels will work and equipment to the highest international standards.
The appointee will be required to contribute in the design, development, implementation, and review of modern and Innovative Maritime Training programs, flexible delivery and assessment (including e-learning).
Duties may not be restricted to the Marine Navigation faculty and may involve work in any area of Marine department, other country-wide locations
The Instructor in Nautical Studies primary role is to teach a wide range of STCW courses at Support, Operation and Management level including some administrative duties. Teaching duties include conducting lectures, tutorials, training sessions, workshops, seminars, and associated assessments for programs including Certificate of Competencies specifically for Marine Navigation officers and related ship and shore based undergraduate programs

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nautical Science from a recognized and approved program namely, an STCW recognized qualification Preferably as a Master Mariner Class 1 or Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science or Bachelor of Science in Technical/Trade and Meeting Transport General Authority TGA “Qualification Requirements” Train the Trainer Certification.
You will have 10 years Industry and, or professional experience relevant to the position including at least 3 years in Marie Training.

Responsibilities

A successful candidate will
• Make an effective contribution to Marine Training in achieving its objectives
• Provide training to Marine Employees for fulfilling their operational responsibilities.
• Co-ordinate and/or conduct lectures, tutorials, practical classes, workshops, field excursions
• Consultation with industry experts to deliver a high-quality program, both on-campus and online environments.
• Support the course coordination role in relevant seafaring programs.
• Develop teaching and learning resources, including
➢ STCW Marine Navigation Courses at Support, Operation and Management Level
➢ All STCW ancillary Course
➢ In house Marine Courses as per MTAU Supervisor and OJT instructions
➢ Tutorial material to support the conduct of scheduled classes.
➢ Teaching materials suitable for face-to-face and flexible delivery.
• Develop assessments and other assessment tasks
• Undertake marking of all assessments associated with the units taught
• Provide formative feedback to students in a timely manner
• Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills
• Undertake other duties as assigned by the MTAU supervisor.
